A Cosy Idea by the Coast
Nestled just steps away from the sparkling shores of Saundersfoot Beach, Periwinkle began as a simple dream — to create a space that felt like home. A place where people could come in from the sea breeze, enjoy a hot drink, share a laugh, or get creative with a paintbrush.
When the doors to Periwinkle first opened, we had no idea how many hearts (and appetites!) we’d end up warming.
From Tearoom to Bistro
Periwinkle started its journey as a humble seaside tearoom. We served homemade cakes, cream teas, and comforting lunches — all crafted with love, local ingredients, and a sprinkle of that famous Pembrokeshire charm. The goal? To offer something genuine and inviting for both locals and visitors alike.
But as the seasons changed and our little community grew, so did our vision. What began as daytime coffee and cake slowly evolved into something more. Soon, we were lighting candles in the evening, opening our doors for relaxed Mediterranean–Moroccan style bistro nights. Tapas, cocktails, laughter, and late-night chatter became part of the Periwinkle rhythm.
The People Behind the Magic
Periwinkle is proudly family-run, built with passion and care by a team who truly love what they do. Every dish on the menu, every colour on the pottery shelves, and every smile behind the counter is part of a much bigger story — one rooted in community, hospitality, and creativity.
We’ve always believed that a good meal is more than just food on a plate — it’s a shared experience. And that’s what we’ve aimed to create, day in and day out.
The Studio: Where Creativity Lives
Just a short stroll from the main bistro, our Periwinkle Pottery Studio opened to bring another layer to our story. Here, families, friends, and curious creatives of all ages can pick up a brush, paint something beautiful, and make memories together.
Whether it's hand-painted mugs, personalised plates, or baby keepsakes, the studio has become a beloved part of what makes Periwinkle unique. We’ve even hosted birthday parties, rainy-day drop-ins, and quiet creative afternoons for locals and tourists alike.
Growing With Our Community
Our journey wouldn’t be what it is without the wonderful Saundersfoot community and the countless visitors who’ve stopped by over the years. Whether it’s the early morning dog-walkers popping in for a cappuccino, or the holidaymakers booking their table for Friday tapas night — each and every person has helped shape who we are.
We've marked many milestones:
- Our first ever dinner service (we were nervous but you showed up hungry!)
- Launching Periwinkle Pottery and painting with our first family
- Our first cocktail evening, with espresso martinis flowing and live music playing
- Surviving tough seasons with your support — and emerging even stronger
And now, we’re excited to start documenting these moments here on the blog.
